It is made up of "villages". There were originally 7 villages and then 5 more were added. In 1995, Serrano was created by Parker Development Company. Serrano has a private par 72 championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
It also has the Serrano County Club, with its 34000 square foot clubhouse. Serrano has excellent schools, secure gated neighborhoods and 1000 acres of natural open space.
Homes prices range from the low 400´s up to more than 6 million. There are some fixers on the market in the low 200 thousands.

FOLSOM
Folsom The City of Folsom has a rich history beginning with the '49ers during California's great Gold Rush. But it's also a forward-looking city -- the site the West's first railroad and the world's first long-distance transmission of electricity.
Folsom is located about 30 minutes from downtown Sacramento. It has the flavor of a small city, but does not lack any of the conveniences of modern living. It has ample shopping and cultural facilities, and a large mall is in process of being built. As part of the four-county Sacramento Metropolitan Statistical Area, the City is part of a robust regional economy as well.
The City is attracting a stream of newcomers seeking good housing or good jobs. Between the years 2000 and 2010, the number of citizens in the City is expected to be somewhere between 65,000 and 70,000. That number should be about the population limit, according to the City's current general plan. Many residents work in Sacramento, which also is enjoying rapid growth. They find the City an easy commute and an attractive alternative to the more congested Sacramento urban scene. Folsom is also becoming a city in which residents find their employment right here. Many high-tech companies have built large production facilities. Industrial growth continues with new business parks and retail expanding throughout the city.

These newcomers are significantly altering the character of the City's population, which used to have a higher proportion of retirees. Many of the newcomers are families with children, and this is giving the City more of an orientation toward young families.

Folsom Lake State Recreation Area is the most popular multi-use, year- round unit in the California State Park System. Each year visitors flock to the 18,000-acre park to fish, hike, camp, picnic, ride horseback, water ski, boat, swim and study nature. Two-third of the park's surface area is water. Folsom Lake, the larger of the area's two lakes, is formed behind Folsom Dam and has 120 miles of shoreline.
The historical district and old town with their landmarks, great scenery and wonderful shopping are located just above the shores of Lake Natoma on the American River. Covering the old town takes only a short walk. At the northeastern end, the historic powerhouse and surrounding park are open to visitors daily. Built in 1895, it was first the powerhouse in the world to provide long distance electricity transmission for commercial use.
Home prices range from $149,000 for a condo to more than one million dollars.

SACRAMENTO
Sacramento is the capitol and the seat of Sacramento County. It is located along the Sacramento River and just south of the American River´s confluence in the Central Valley. It is the 7th largest city in California. The 2007 population was 460,242.
Greater Sacramento has been cited as one of the 5 most livable regions in America in 2004 and the city was cited by Time Magazine´s America´s Most Integrated in 2002.
The Greater Sacramento area is comprised of several other communities, including Fair Oaks, Carmichael, Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Rocklin, Roseville, West Sacramento, Orangevale, and North Highlands.
Sutter´s Fort is one tourist destination, with its rich history of the gold rush era. Old Sacramento is a fun place and buildings have been either restored, or recreated to show how one might have lived in the early days complete with cobble stone streets. There is a railroad museum, where you can take a ride on a steam engine.
Sacramento has so much to offer in the way of culture. There are several major theatre venues for Sacramento. The Sacramento Convention Center Complex governs both the Community Center Theatre and Memorial Auditorium. The Wells Fargo Pavilion is the most recent addition. It is built atop the old Music Circus tent foundations. The Sacramento Ballet, Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra and the Sacramento Opera perform at the Community Center Theatre.
The Sacramento area has one of the largest collection of smaller Community Theatres in California. Some of these include, the 24th Street Theatre, River City Theatre Company, Runaway Stage Productions, Magic Circle Theatre, Big Idea Theatre, Celebration Arts, Lambda Player, Synergy Stage and the historic Eagle Theatre. Many of these theatres compete annually for the Elly Awards overseen by The Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance or SARTA.
Sports are a large part of the Sacramento culture. The Sacramento Kings, an NBA team, and the Sacramento Monarchs, a women´s team, both play at Arco Arena. The Rivercats are a minor league team and play at the Rivercats Stadium in West Sacramento.
There are many museums, as well. Maria Shriver, the wife of Governor Schwarzenegger recently opened the California Museum. The Crocker Art Gallery is one of the larger, but there are many smaller galleries available.
The weather in the greater Sacramento area lends itself to nearly year-round recreation. While there are hot days in the 100 degree range in the summer, the humidity is low and we always gets our cooling delta breeze in the evening to cool down the nights.
For almost any price, you could find a property in Sacramento. Foreclosures and bank owned bargains are on the market right now.
